The partnership between Codix Pharma Ltd and Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) has continued to yield remarkable results, as the jointly developed Biosensor and Nanotechnology Curriculum successfully graduated two cohorts of students within just two years of its introduction.

Launched in 2024, the program began with over 70 students enrolled in its inaugural year. By 2025, that number had grown significantly to more than 300 students — a clear indication of the growing interest and relevance of biosensor technology in Nigeria’s evolving healthcare and life sciences sector.

The collaboration between Codix Pharma and OOU represents a pioneering step toward building a strong pipeline of skilled talent for the in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) industry in Nigeria and across Africa. Through this partnership, both institutions are working to bridge the gap between academia and industry by providing students with exposure to real-world applications of biosensor technology, diagnostic innovation, and research methodologies.

Speaking on the milestone, representatives from Codix Pharma emphasized that the initiative goes beyond classroom learning. “What students are exposed to within the university setting is only a foundation. The true transformation happens when they can connect theoretical knowledge with practical experience in research, development, and innovation — which are essential for growth in the healthcare technology space,” the company noted.

This partnership underscores Codix Pharma’s commitment to advancing local capacity in health technology, fostering innovation, and equipping the next generation of scientists, engineers, and healthcare professionals to drive sustainable progress in Africa’s healthcare ecosystem.
